Thermo Coat (SEC-L) is widely required heat resistant, Anti Oxidant / Anti Erosion, electrically Conducting Coating. Working temperature 2000ºC + 10%, used for protection of Graphite Electrode against oxidation/erosion in Arc & Ladle furnace in steel industries.
Thermo Coat (SEC-L) is prepared by mixing dissimilar minerals mixed in predetermined proportions to form effective and strong chemically bonded compound which gives high standard properties viz,.heat resistant, electrically conducting and Anti Oxidation / Anti Erosion. This coating also takes care of anti corrosive properties at elevated temperatures. The binding strength of the coating with Graphite surface increases with the rise of temperature. Complete chemical binding action takes place with the rise of temperature. The anti oxidation / anti erosion effect at elevated temperature of 1700ºC + 10% will be indicated by the change of coating colour i.e., black colour of coating will turn into whitish gray. This change of colour of coating on the surface of Graphite electrode ensures that the principal surface (graphite) has been totally protected by the coating against oxidation and erosion.
